Education and academic career
Arif Saldanlı completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics (1999–2003). He received an MSc in Money, Capital Markets and Financial Institutions from the Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences in 2006, with a thesis on traditional and value-based financial performance measures and economic value added, and a PhD in Economics from the same institute in 2012, with a thesis on the effect of corporate governance on firm value and performance in the Istanbul Stock Exchange 100 (ISE 100). His English proficiency is recorded as B2.
He has worked in the Department of Business Administration, Istanbul University Faculty of Economics, since 2005: as research assistant (2005–2014), assistant professor (2014–2019) and associate professor (2019–present). Administrative roles include Deputy Head of Department (2014–present), centre director (2015–2019), member of a rectorate commission (2015–2025) and member of the board of the Istanbul University Urban Policies Application and Research Centre (2019–2024). AVESİS lists 43 supervised theses and records his research areas as finance, financial markets and investment management, and money, capital and financial institutions.
